The Open World School

A network of international schools

The Open World School is a new network of schools that can be found in various countries in Europe and other continents.
The schools do not necessarily resemble, but they are based on the same philosophy and the same values:
- Exposure to other languages and countries
- A warm and positive environment for students,
- The civic participation of students.

Like all international schools, The Open World School welcomes students of different nationalities. Jeanne is taking courses in Paris, with students from over twenty different nationalities!

The schools of Open World School are often surrounded by a garden or a park for the students to enjoy the beauty of the nature in between classes. And as we pay attention to the world, there are solar street lights. (See home)

A school for the world!

Jeanne, Kate, and Julia’s school devotes considerable space to different cultures, languages and encourages students to explore the worldwide. The countless number of festivals and celebrations that take place throughout the year is an opportunity to share the joy of being together.

Once a year, there is a big parade, with happy students of all nationalities represented in the school. Songs of the world are sung in one language and expressed into another. After participating, Jeanne wrote in her diary: "We sang in unity. I was thrilled. It was beautiful. It was pure. A hope shared across borders. This feeling will forever be within me. '
Students learn to work together, beyond the barriers of language and culture on a variety of topics: What actions can be brought in to save the Amazon? How to help girls who have dropped out of school in Africa? ... How to fight against pollution in large cities?
The Open World School, as the name suggests, is a school for the world.

So High Tech

The Open World School has developed a liking for the latest information technologies, which make these exchanges between students from different countries nowadays a possibility.

First, we must speak of Clickle. All students know Clickle a super computer, almost "human", which can translate all conversations regardless of the language ... However, sometimes it makes mistakes ... and then it can be very funny!

And also, there are the "Playgether" ... Every Tuesday afternoon, Jeanne’s class meets in the conference room of the school. There, on a giant screen we saw under very real conditions, students in another country. At first, Jeanne had the impression they were by her side, as an extension of her own class. She saw Kate and she wanted to reach out to touch her! But no, it was the image of Kate trying to smile ... the young Londoner was actually in her classroom in London, thousands of miles away.
During the "Playgether", activities such as puzzle solving, developing a plan for collective humanitarian action, parallel scientific experiments are organized to learn to work together despite differences of language and geographical distance. These moments are unique for Jeanne and her friends.

And also, in the new building dedicated to technology, there is even a laboratory where students who have the desire, may develop video games, robots, or cartoons! They learn to code, to program, and to design ... But there is a rule that they should not decline: whatever they create, must always bring something positive and good to others and to the planet.
